The integration of the kitchen is very important. It must be as fluent as possible.
It looks as if it was always there - we aim to seamlessly integrate every kitchen.
A fitted kitchen doesn't just have to be a separate room, it can be part of an open plan living area.
Windows are an important part of every project; we design to give a feeling of light and space.
We aim to make our kitchens feel homely and comfortable, getting the perfect match between functionality and style.
The importance of safety is always taken into account in our kitchen designs.
Wherever possible, we adhere to the following guidelines:
• Minimum gap of 760mm (2ft 6in) above the hob.
• A hob and oven should not be positioned so that any door can swing open against either one.
• A hob should have a clear worktop, or a space of at least 200mm (8in) on both sides. This is especially important if tall cupboards or walls surround a hob. These should be at least 200mm (8in) away from the edge of the hob to prevent heat damage and allow for cooking utensil movement.
• A hob should not be placed underneath a window. Draughts can extinguish gas flames, and leaning across a hob when it is in use to open the window is certainly dangerous.
• Minimum distance of 1200mm (3ft 11in) between any rows of fiited kitchen cupboards that face each other, for example in a galley kitchen, or where an island has been installed. This allows for drawers and doors of appliances to be opened, while still allowing easy passage.
• Avoid short worktops of less than 1000mm (3ft 3in) wherever possible.
• Worktops should be supported by vertical struts every 600mm (2ft). If appliances are sited next to each other, allow space for a supporting panel to be positioned between them.
• Current building regulations require all fitted kitchens to have "adequate air extraction".
